CHARLES & KEITH turns twenty-five, celebrates its journey through time with a limited-edition anniversary series

For twenty-five years, CHARLES & KEITH has created footwear, bags and other accessories for fashion-savvy women. It challenges fashion boundaries yet remains closely tied to the zeitgeist. This year, to commemorate its silver jubilee, the brand has created a limited-edition capsule collection — the Anniversary Series — that pays homage to its past, while reflecting its present and offering a glimpse into its future.

On this momentous occasion, CHARLES & KEITH’s Executive Director Emmanuelle Mace-Driskill took the opportunity to reflect on the brand’s journey through the last quarter-century.

“There are moments in life to celebrate, and this is a special one — CHARLES & KEITH turns twenty-five years old. Over the last two decades, we’re proud to have grown into a brand that empowers women to experience the world of fashion, bringing them joy with collections that reflect innovation and retrospection. At CHARLES & KEITH, we are committed to offering the latest and best in fashion, where trends for shoes and accessories are continually being reinvented.”

“To celebrate this milestone, we have curated a collection of shoes and bags featuring some of our most iconic styles, using recycled materials that are suited for everyday wear. We are grateful for the support and love CHARLES & KEITH has received all these years, and we cannot wait to see what the next twenty-five years will bring,” she said.

From minimalist flat sandals and feminine heels to classic chunky boots, the limited-edition Anniversary Series features modern and versatile shoe styles that can be integrated seamlessly into any woman’s wardrobe. 90s-inspired footwear elements, such as square toes, chunky soles and strappy uppers, are incorporated in refreshing ways as an ode to the decade in which the brand was born. Another highlight of the collection is the Sonia line, which consists of a padded bag, a boxy bag and a padded wallet. The collection’s colour palette is anchored by timeless black and brightened by candy pink.

More than just a homage to CHARLES & KEITH’s journey through time, the Anniversary Series also demonstrates the brand’s commitment to step into a better future — this exceptional collection is made entirely of eco-friendly recycled materials. As seen on the modern and minimalist Arabella Recycled Nylon Slingback Sandals and Slide Sandals, used rubber has been upcycled into stylish, translucent soles that sport a speckled confetti design to accentuate the celebratory theme. Polished and elegant, the Sepphe Recycled Nylon Grommet Slingback Pumps and Mules turn heads with recycled plastic heels that feature a hypnotic marbled pattern, which makes each pair unique.

The collection campaign stars English model Lily McMenamy. The talented multi-hyphenate was heavily involved in the art direction and styling of the campaign photoshoot, and contributed significantly to the creative process. Drawing inspiration from the 90s and reinterpreting its fashion trends to create the looks she wore in this campaign, she gives us a peek into her life and reveals the environmentally conscious choices she makes on a typical day.

To celebrate CHARLES & KEITH’s special milestone, Lily recalled her favourite birthday memory.

“My best birthday was definitely the most recent one. I missed my friends so much during the pandemic and it was great to see them all in one crazy picnic! My best friend Alexandra and I also took a flight to Venice, and then a train to Naples between fashion weeks. It was so special. We saw incredible art shows, drank bellinis, went jogging under the Ponte Vechio and danced all night!”

The CHARLES & KEITH Anniversary Series will be available online and in stores from 21 September 2021.
