In a circular, the authority said: ' All hotels, tourism establishments and facilities must adhere to all relevant public health regulations, which among other measures, prohibit hosting of gatherings, events, weddings and conferences in hotels, restaurants, halls, lounges, event houses, whether indoors or outdoors.'

It said the circular has been issued pursuant to the Public Health Law No 34 of 2018 and the measures speciaified therein to combat infectious diseases, the ministerial deicisions issued to curb the spread of Covid-19 and the recommendations and directives of the National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus (Covid-19).

The authority cited the increase in infections as a result of family gatherings, especially on occasions such as weddings and special events, in addition to laxity and recklessness in applying the precautionary measures.

It stressed all individuals and institutions to comply with the mandatory precautionary measures in order to support national efforts to combat the pandemic.

The authority reiterated its confidence in the cooperation of the tourism sector to overcome these challenges, in a way that contributes to unifying national efforts to address the risk of the spread of the virus.
