Manama, Jan. 16 (BNA): Bahrain Bourse (BHB) in collaboration with INJAZ Bahrain officially announced the kick-off of the third edition of the Smart Investor Programme, in its electronic version, targeting elementary students for the academic year 2020-2021.

Commenting on this occasion, Shaikh Khalifa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, the Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Bourse stated: “The Smart Investor Programme is one of the awareness programmes we initiated to educate the younger generation, and goes in line with Bahrain Bourse’s efforts in enhancing investment awareness and financial literacy across various age groups and categories. The programme has proved its success in the past 2 years by reaching out to more than 15,000 students, and we are keen to continue the program to equip students with basic financial literacy skills despite the prevailing conditions. ”

On the impact of the programme, Hana Sarwani, INJAZ Bahrain Executive Director stated: 'We are pleased to roll out the first digital version of the Smart Investor Programme. This transition has enabled us to continue delivering the programme to students and schools through online channels. Despite the challenges that have impacted many schools we are determined to impact 5000 students and empower them with financial knowledge to better understand money matters and to be better prepared to make smart financial decisions. We are looking forward to running numerous workshops in the upcoming semester to provide greater opportunity for primary students to register and benefit from this programme. '

The Smart Investor programme is a national awareness programme launched in 2018 in collaboration with INJAZ Bahrain targeting elementary students. The programme aims at equipping young students with basic concepts related to money management, savings and smart financial planning through interactive edutainment activities in order to assist them in making sound financial decisions.

The Programme consists of seven-themed sessions designed to equip students with the following concepts: Thinking, Specifying, Planning, Execution, Saving, Progression, and Evaluation.

The Smart Investor programme’s workshops will be delivered across 60 schools. Both Government and Private schools will be targeted with the support of educators and volunteers targeting 5000 students within Grade 4 elementary level throughout this academic year. There will be several options to conduct the programme, either through virtual Zoom workshops or through the LMS platform provided by INJAZ Bahrain with the support and guidance of volunteers to ensure smooth program implementation.

The strategic partner for the 2020-2021 ‘Smart Investor’ programme is the Labour Fund (Tamkeen). The program’s silver sponsor is: Bank ABC.
