Businessman Mr. Yaqoob Al Awadhi said that the directive of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister to launch the National Employment Program 2.0 will undoubtedly contribute to the development of private sector institutions and help them meet challenges by reducing operating expenses depending on government support for part of the salaries of Bahraini employees, and in addition to the contribution of this program to increasing job opportunities for citizens, it boosts market turnover and the development of the national economy.

Al Awadhi expressed the optimism of private sector institutions with this ambitious program, which aims to create 25 thousand jobs in 2021 and provide 10 thousand training opportunities annually, in addition to allocating Tamkeen to a budget of 120 million dinars for three years (2021-2023), which represents twice what has been allocated during the past five years, to support the employment of Bahrainis through the wage subsidy program. This is beside the increase in the amounts and duration of support provided to those registered on the Ministry of Labor and Social Development lists and new entrants to the labor market.

“This program comes at a very significant time, as the private sector institutions are looking to restore their levels of work and profits as it used to be pre-corona phase, and are currently seeking to rationalize their expenditures and do everything in their power to stay in the market until economic life returns after the expected elimination of the pandemic in the coming months.” Al Awadhi said.

He affirmed that this program coincides with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s work to achieve the sustainable development goals, including the eighth goal, which stipulates “Decent work and economic growth,” and to promote policies that encourage entrepreneurship and job creation, pointing out that the announcement of this program at this economically difficult time confirms the esteemed government’s determination to provide training and decent work opportunities for citizens.

Al Awadhi, who is the CEO of the “NGN Training Center”, confirmed that the National Employment Program also contributes to boosting the competencies and skills of job seekers, stressing in this regard the importance of supporting training centers and institutes to do their work in enabling national cadres to contribute positively to pushing the economy forward.

“The program will promote the employment and training of Bahrainis, and qualifying them to be the best option for institutions and companies in the private sector, and enabling them to contribute to the acceleration of the economy by joining the labor market, which leads to an increase in the total number of Bahraini employees.” Al Awadhi concluded.
