Diyar Al Muharraq signs deal with Al Meer on supermarket opening

Diyar Al Muharraq, one of the largest real estate development companies in Bahrain, has announced the signing of an agreement with Al Meer Group, a well-known local supermarket chain established since 1952 with many branches across the kingdom.
With this deal, Al Muntazah Market will also join an increasing roster of vendors already signed to the Souq Al Baraha project.
Located in the center of the integrated city, the Souq Al Baraha project will add an authentic local feel to the upcoming shopping destination of Diyar Al Muharraq.
Upon its opening in the second quarter of 2021, the Souq will provide shoppers with a diverse selection of shops and concepts creating a new shopping journey that honors the kingdom’s rich past with modern-day conveniences.
Comprising both indoor commercial and retail spaces, as well as outdoor kiosks, the souq is set to cater to a range of lifestyle needs to residents and visitors from across the kingdom.
The Souq reflects the community-based culture Diyar Al Muharraq offers, and aims to provide shoppers with the traditional and local Bahraini hospitality experience, selling modern day concepts as well as traditional Bahraini products, foods, handwoven handicrafts, and textiles under a single roof.
It will offer shoppers a wide array of choices of restaurants, cafes, daily food market stalls, and also includes an entertainment facility, creating a space for the entire family to enjoy. The Souq is set to open in the second quarter of 2021.
Spanning over 17,000 sq m and boasting 13,431 sq m of leasable areas, Souq Al Baraha has a built-up area of 20,242 sq m, and covers a total land size of 64,202 sq m.
The Souq comprises of 468 retail spaces, which are strategically located along wide paths and streets.
Souq Al Baraha is poised to become a one-of-a-kind shopping destination for the residents of Diyar Al Muharraq, as well as visitors from across the GCC, said the developer.
Al Muntazah Market will be the only retailer of its kind within Souq Al Baraha, leasing a space of 1,355 sq m, and will be themed traditionally, reflecting the look and feel of Souq Al Baraha, truly embodying the texture of old markets in Bahrain.
CEO Ahmed Ali Alammadi said: 'We are pleased to welcome Al Muntaza Market as the exclusive supermarket in Souq Al Baraha. The supermarket will be designed to offer a traditional feel that is in line with the direction for Souq Al Baraha; we have worked closely with their team to ensure the nostalgic Bahrain will be felt, ultimately providing shoppers with a unique experience.'
