Bahrain Polytechnic and Carrefour, owned and operated by Majid Al Futtaim in the Kingdom of Bahrain, signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at discussing opportunities for joint cooperation, where it was signed by the CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, Dr. Jeff Zabudsky, and Jerome Akel, Country Manager of Carrefour Bahrain at Majid Al Futtaim Retail.

As part of the memorandum, Carrefour will provide students with an opportunity for practical and internal training in the company. Additionally, the Polytechnic will organize short training courses for Carrefour employees, as well as exchange professional experiences and expertise, coordinate site visits and host guest speakers, collaborate on research projects, and promote mutual public relations opportunities.

On this occasion, CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, Dr. Jeff Zabudsky, said: “We are happy to collaborate with a big brand such as Carrefour, and we consider this agreement an important step that will provide the opportunity for Polytechnic students to receive practical training in a real work environment. This will contribute to the development of their personal and practical skills, and it prepares them to handle or solve real work challenges in the future.”

He stressed that this agreement falls within the objectives of the Polytechnic’s strategic plan, as it constantly develops the skills of its students by applying a problem-based learning system in its studies. He added that applied work is integrated into its curriculum by collaborating with various local and international brands in order to provide students with practical experience that prepares them for the business environment prior to their graduation.

“At Majid Al Futtaim, we believe that people are our greatest asset. That is why we invest in their careers and their development from the start. We are committed to developing local Bahraini talent and are honoured to be sharing work experience opportunities with the students of the Polytechnic” said Jerome Akel, Country Manager of Carrefour Bahrain at Majid Al Futtaim Retail.

“Bahrain Polytechnic is one of the leading higher education institutions in the Kingdom and this agreement will help to build the skills of the students in a real-life work environment. We believe this experience will better prepare them for their future workplace and maybe even a role within our Carrefour Bahrain team. Vice versa, we believe that our employees will learn a great deal from the courses they enrol on at the Polytechnic which will help them advance their careers at Carrefour.”
