Bahrain Polytechnic and Association of Engineering Offices Bahrain discuss collaboration and training opportunities

Bahrain Polytechnic and the Association of Engineering Offices Bahrain (AEOB) have discussed collaboration and training opportunities with an aim to enhance the national workforce in the field of engineering.

With the Polytechnic’s commitment to lifelong learning, both parties discussed the prospect of reskilling and upskilling the various engineers and draughtsmen in Bahrain. Customized training programmes and professional qualifications were among the proposed approaches to enhance the engineering workforce.

Dr. Reem Albuainain, Deputy CEO of Academic Affairs, stated that the Polytechnic believes that the future of the Kingdom’s social and economic well being will depend on delivering the labor market with a qualified and skilled workforce. The Polytechnic is keen to deliver academic and professional qualifications to its industry partners by upskilling and reskilling the workforce to meet labour market requirements, as part of its Strategic Plan 2020-2024.

In turn, Eng. Mazen Alumran, President of the Association of Engineering Offices Bahrain thanked the Polytechnic for organizing this meeting. He emphasized the need to provide technicians with professional certificates to work in the engineering sector with an aim to boost Bahrainization. He also pointed out the need for permanent coordination and communication with the rest of the relevant authorities such as the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, the Labor Fund (Tamkeen) and the Council for Regulating the Practice of Engineering Professions in order to facilitate the procedures for integrating these technicians into the engineering sector.

Representing the Polytechnic during the meeting was Dr. Reem Albuainain, Deputy CEO of Academic Affairs; Dr. Christakis Papageorgiou, Dean of the Engineering, Design, and ICT Faculty; Ali Hasan, Director of ICT; and Abdulridha Dismal, Acting Industry Liaison Manager. Representing the members of AEOB were Eng. Mazen Alumran, President; Abdulhasan Al Hayki, General Secretary; and Noor Al Mutawa, Public Relations.
