Tourism Ministry’s support for large family-owned enterprises’ private museums affirmed

Manama, Aug. 21 (BNA): Minister of Tourism, Fatima Al Sairafi, has stressed the ministry's support to different Bahraini family-owned enterprises to start their museums aiming to record their vibrant commercial journeys, highlighting the history and heritage of Bahrain's commercial sector and to promote business tourism in Bahrain.

Minister Al Sairafi affirmed the readiness of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) to promote these museums during its participation in Gulf and international events related to tourism. She added that the Ministry supports major industrial and commercial companies in establishing their museums to showcase their contributions to Bahrain's economic growth and serve as a tourist attraction.

Fatima Al Sairafi further said 'To add these museums to the list of popular tourist attractions in the Kingdom, a dedicated team from the Bahrain Tourism & Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) is developing an executive strategy to turn the Kanoo Family Museum into a unique model that can be shared with other Bahraini families, businesses and industries..'.

Dr Nasser Qaedi, the CEO of BTEA, pointed out that the Kanoo Museum will be a significant tourist destination in Manama Souq once it is completed, saying, 'We are thrilled that this building will be incorporated into the Tourism Authority's plan to expand the Manama Souq, strengthening its position within the community's urban and cultural landscape and promoting the diversification of the tourism industry.'

YBA Kanoo Group Chairman Mr. Khalid Mohamed Kanoo, also welcomed H.E. Fatima Al Sairafi, Minister of Tourism, and the delegation's visit, which serves as further evidence of the significance of the public-private sector relationship in the accomplishment of major community programs. He emphasized his complete confidence that the project's prestige and value will be enhanced through collaboration with the ministry of tourism.

“We are proud to be one of the leading family enterprises in the Gulf, where the creation of this museum will be a perfect way to capture the history of the YBA Kanoo family Collection, which spans more than 130 years. By developing a museum in the historic Kanoo building in the heart of Manama, next to Bab Al Bahrain, we also hope to pay tribute to our founding fathers, as this museum will house a sizable collection of rare historical artefacts and documents.'
