Manama, Feb. 16 (BNA): Minister of Oil and Environment, Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Daina, honored the winners in the competition to make short awareness films held under the theme 'Global Cooperation to Protect Life on Earth', which was launched by the Supreme Council for Environment last September marking the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.
The Minister of Oil and Environment emphasized the importance of the competition to boost environmental awareness and protect the environment and the ozone layer. He added that making short films by the students has a great influence on all age categories. He praised the students’ creativity in producing the films, lauding the schools’ interest in the environmental competitions.
The competition, which was launched by the Supreme Council for Environment last September in conjunction with the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, aims to shed light on issues related to the ozone layer and the individual’s role in backing the national and international efforts in this respect. Forty male and female students representing 15 private schools took part in it. Larissa Ziyad Rabia, from Hawar International School, won the first place while Noor Sayed Mohammed Al-Mousawi, from Al-Ahlia School, clinched the second place.
