Housing Minister meets UN-Habitat Executive Director

Manama, Feb.22 (BNA): Bahrain gives a high priority to the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals in its development plans and programs, said Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amna bint Ahmed Al Romaihi.
'This policy is highlighted by the indicators of the voluntary reports submitted by the Kingdom in this regard to the United Nations, which features Bahrain's strides', she added.
The minister made the remarks as she met the Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Maimunah Mohd Sharif on the occasion of her visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. During the meeting, the UN official was briefed on the housing policiy in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The minister highlighted close cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and various United Nations agenciess, especially the Human Settlements Program.
She stressed the importance of this cooperation which yielded the launch of the State of Arab Cities 2022 report, under the title 'Sustainable Financing for Urban Infrastructure' from the Kingdom of Bahrain in coordination with the Bahrain Centre for for Strategic, International and Energy Studies 'Derasat'.
The Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Maimunah Mohd Sharif hailed Bahrain's commitment to implement the 2023 Sustainable Development Goals, which is reflected in periodic voluntary reports and indicators that reflect the Kingdom's strides. She expressed her delight at visiting the Salman Town.
