RHF Secretary-General, Syrian Health Minister discuss needs of quake-affected Syrian citizens

Damascus, Feb. 24 (BNA): Syrian Health Minister, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghabash, has lauded His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s humanitarian stances towards the Syrian people.

He praised the initiative of the kingdom’s leadership, government and people to support those affected by the earthquake in his country, affirming the depth of the Syrian-Bahraini relations.

The minister made the statements while receiving here the Secretary-General of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF), Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayed, marking the visit of a Bahraini delegation to deliver a Bahraini relief aid shipment to those affected by the recent earthquake in Syria.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the medical and relief field to serve those affected by the earthquake, and coordination to deliver it to those who deserve it.

Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayed indicated that based on HM the King's directives and the support of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the RHF and the National Committee for Supporting Earthquake Victims in Syria and Türkiye, led by HM the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, seek to deliver all kinds of assistance to mitigate the effects of the earthquake that struck Syria.

He affirmed that Bahrain would continue providing assistance to the Syrian people, based on the fraternal relations between the two countries, the teachings of the Islamic religion and authentic Arab traditions to help the brothers and the afflicted in the various humanitarian conditions.

He stressed that coordination is currently underway with the UN agencies to implement humanitarian projects for our brothers in Syria, as well as with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent to ensure that aid reaches those affected by the quake.

The two sides discussed sending a group of Bahraini doctors to join their Syrian counterparts in treating those injured due to the earthquake. They will also collect first-hand information about the essential needs in order to provide them.

The meeting was attended mainly by the Minister of Health and Bahrain’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Syria, Waheed Mubarak Sayyar.
